A symptom is a departure from normal function or feeling which is noticed by a patient, indicating the presence of a disease or abnormality.

In the case of panic attacks we can talk about scary feelings and sensations. However, these feelings are not the causes of any type of disease. That’s right, if you are a panic attack sufferer, you are not ill!

The experienced panic attacks symptoms can be different, but after experiencing a panic attack, most of the sufferers will be afraid not having another attack. That means he or she will experience fear when there is no real threat or danger present. The thoughts work on presenting scenarios that could happen, but they are not present.

These thoughts can be pretty weird and disturbing, but they are not harmful. However, having such thoughts in your mind day after day can be really frightful. The „what if” thoughts, which I have also experienced are a reconnized and common panic attacks symptom.

Here are the other most common panic attacks symptoms:

Chest, neck or shoulder pain
Chills or hot flushes
Breathing difficulty or choaking sensation
Feeling dizzy or light-headed
Growing fear
Sweating hands
Pounding heart or fast heart beat
Abdominal discomfort
Feeling of shaking (it can be visible, too)
Feeling unreal
Feeling outside yourself
Impression of losing control
Disturbed toughts

There are some other symptoms too, which are experienced only by a smaller precentage of the sufferers. Generally speaking, if you are experiencing four from the above mentioned symptoms, you are suffering from panic attacks.

Experiencing more panic attack symptoms or experiencing them in a different way than listed above doesn’t mean that your condition is worse, or that you are suffering from another un-diagnosed condition. Additional panic attack symptoms can vary from individal to individual, but these are the most common ones.
